Leicester City v Everton Betting: Goalkeepers to have work cut out as Puel makes Foxes bow

Our tipster expects the goals to flow when the Frenchman takes charge of his new club for the first time at King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon

Claude Puel will take charge of Leicester City for the first time when the Foxes face Everton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Frenchman led Southampton to the League Cup final last season, before guiding the Saints to an eighth place finish in the Premier League; the 56-year-old, though, faced criticism over his side’s style of play and the former Nice manager was sacked in the summer.

Puel, then, could be forgiven for feeling that he has a point to prove as he takes up the reins at Leicester; recent results will certainly offer encouragement to Puel that he has inherited a squad that is capable of climbing the Premier League table.

The 2015/16 Premier League champions sacked Craig Shakespeare earlier this month following a disappointing start to the season, but caretaker manager Michael Appleton has since steadied the ship, guiding the Foxes to wins against Swansea City and Leeds United respectively in his two matches in charge; Appleton will revert to his role as assistant manager in light of Puel’s appointment.

Victory against Everton on Sunday afternoon would, of course, be the perfect way for Puel to begin his reign as Leicester City manager and the Foxes can be backed at 23/20 (2.15) with dabblebet to deliver three points for the new manager; the same firm go 12/5 (3.40) that the match ends in stalemate; that particular play would have landed in three of Leicester’s last five Premier League matches.

Everton, too, have already made a managerial change this season, with Puel’s predecessor at Southampton – Ronald Koeman – relieved of his duties earlier this week; despite a solid start to the season, the Toffees have endured a torrid run of results recently, culminating in the humiliating 5-2 home defeat against Arsenal that led to Koeman’s departure from Goodison Park.

David Unsworth has taken temporary charge while the Everton hierarchy seek a permanent replacement for Koeman and although Unsworth could not prevent a League Cup exit at the hands of Chelsea in midweek, there were, at least, some positives to take from the Toffees’ performance in west London.

It is with renewed hope, then, that the men from Merseyside travel to King Power Stadium and dabblebet go 5/2 (3.50) that the visitors kickstart their campaign with a vital victory against the Foxes.

There is plenty of potential for the goals to flow here as Leicester have failed to find the net in just one of their last eight games, while Everton, too, have scored in seven of their last eight matches.

With that in mind, dabblebet’s 8/11 (1.73) quote for both teams to find the target could be a solid selection, but better value may lie in backing more than two goals to be scored at 10/11 (1.91) with the same firm ahead of Sunday’s showdown.
